Rock City BMX, part of the West Michigan BMX organization, is having their first race of the year this Friday! If you're a fan of BMX biking, outdoor sports in general, or just looking for a fun activity, you have to check them out!
BMX biking is fun for both kids and adults at West Michigan BMX. All you need to participate is a bike, a long sleeved shirt and pants, and a bike helmet. You can show up on the day of the race, get registered, and get your practice runs in without any calling ahead or pre-registration. It's really that quick and easy to get into the sport of BMX biking! Girls and boys, kids and adults, everyone is welcome! You can see more of the rules and helpful tips at USA BMX's website.
If you're not able to make the June 2nd race, don't worry! Rock City has more races throughout the summer. The next one is June 9th! Their events calendar doesn't go out any further than that yet, but my suspicion is that they're going to have more scheduled real soon :)
They also have an indoor BMX track in Greenville that's open during the winter months, so if you find yourself hooked to the sport you don't have to give it up when the snow flies!
Rock City BMX has their outdoor track at the Art Van Sports Complex at the corner of 10 Mile Rd and Wolven Ave. The first race of the 2017 West Michigan BMX season is Friday, June 2nd. Registration and practice is from 6pm-7pm, but if you're just interested in spectating, the bike racing starts at 7:15!
