It's back again, guys! The United Bank Rogue River Blues is back for the 2017 season, and just like this year's weather... it's gonna be a hot one!
The Rogue River Blues is a concert series put on by the West Michigan Blues Society and sponsored by the Grand Rapids local bank United Bank of Michigan. It's been held for several years now downtown in Garden Club Park by the dam, and it's wonderful. We live walking distance from the event, and sometimes we can even hear the music from our house! The amphitheater is right along the White Pine Trail, with great places to get dinner, drinks, or a snack.
If you're hungry, Dam Dogs serves up the finest all-beef chili hot dogs in a variety of styles. Custard by the Dam provides sweet treats of soft serve and candy. Ramona's Table has patio seating overlooking the show, but I would get there early to get a seat! And if you're thirsty, right behind the stage is Kayla Rae Cellers, a wonderful winery featuring the most delicious sangria on tap this summer!
Oh, and if you want a better seat... just feel free to bring your kayak! There's also seating on the dam itself, though with the rushing water, hearing the music gets a little challenging.
If you've been to enough local music shows around West Michigan, you'll start to recognize some of the names of the people who are playing. This year is a lot of new faces to the Rogue River Blues stage, but our favorite Soul Syndicate will be back! The concert series happens every Tuesday evening in the summer starting June 13th and ending August 15th. Oh and best of all? It's FREE! Remember to bring a blanket or a chair!
Here's the lineup for 2017:
