If you haven't heard of rolled ice cream (check out our video here!) you're in for a treat! Made right in front of you while you wait, this is dinner and a show! They pour the cream and sugar onto a frozen plate, then mix it around with your toppings until it's frozen and fluffy with air, then they scrape it flat. It freezes to the plate, where they then roll it into delightful little curls and there you have rolled ice cream!
Flavors on the Promenade has any kind of rolled ice cream you want, plus both sweet and savory crepes! Owned by some of the most wonderful people you'll ever meet (Roger, Gillian, and their two daughters) their menu is massive! The ice cream menu features everything from mint chocolate chip to banana to espresso and more, with cookies and whipped cream on top! Their crepe menu is to die for, with strawberry shortcake, Nutella, lemon and so much more on the sweet side. And they're made with real fruit! They also have savory crepes, with everything from chicken and Mexican and Thai all the way to basic ham and cheese.
They also have tons of options to quench your thirst, like coffee and fresh-made juices. My favorite is their home-made sorrel, which is a Carribean island speciality made with hibiscus and ginger and a blend of secret spices. Very refreshing on a hot summer day!
Your crepe will take just a minute or two to make, while the rolled ice cream might take up to five minutes. It's all made fresh right in front of you, so enjoy the show! They do have gluten free options, but don't currently have any dairy free options.
In the summer time they're open Monday through Thursday 11am-8pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-9pm, and on Sunday they're open Noon-8pm. In the winter they're going to have hot soups as well! You can find them at 8 E Bridge Street in Rockford, Michigan, right beside Rockford Riverside Grill and Rockford Brewing Company!
